BlockBeats News, June 13th - According to Reuters, Polish President Karol Nawrocki stated in a declaration that he has vetoed a cryptocurrency regulation bill for the third time as it did not incorporate his previously proposed suggestions.
The Polish parliament had passed the bill in May of this year to regulate the cryptocurrency industry. Prior to this, the bill had garnered significant attention due to the ongoing scandal following the collapse of the country's largest crypto exchange and the escalating controversy over the intensity of industry regulation.
The bill aimed to implement the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA), and Poland is required to complete the relevant legislative approval by July. Nawrocki had vetoed similar bills twice before. He mentioned that he supports regulating the crypto industry but criticized the Polish government for overlooking most of the amendments proposed by his office during the legislative process.
He stated, "I support regulation of this market, I also support consumer protection, but it must be done effectively." He added that if the bill undergoes revisions, he will sign it into law.
