The Chiang Mai Police in Thailand raided a cryptocurrency scam targeting Chinese citizens, leading to the arrest of 10 Chinese nationals.

BlockBeats News, June 10th, according to the Bangkok Post, Thai police raided a scam operation in Saraphi District, Chiang Mai Province, arresting 10 Chinese citizens and seizing 67 mobile phones, 7 iPads, and 13 laptops.

The police stated that the gang impersonated employees of insurance and courier companies, tricked victims mainly located in China into installing software to obtain personal information, carried out financial fraud, and received payments through cryptocurrency transactions. Investigations revealed that some suspects entered Thailand with tourist visas and rented the property for approximately 80,000 Thai Baht per month.
