Iran Denies Attack on Kuwait Airport, Attributes Damage to Misoperation of US-made 'Patriot' System

BlockBeats News, June 4th. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran stated that they did not launch a missile at the passenger terminal of Kuwait International Airport. The related damage was caused by a misoperation after the failure of the US-made "Patriot" anti-missile system interception, which led to the falling of the interceptor missile.

Guard Corps spokesperson Hossein Muqaddam stated that the investigation showed that the Iranian Aerospace Force did not attack Kuwait Airport and claimed to have relevant evidence. In response, the US Central Command denied the Iranian claims, stating that Iran's assertion was "completely false" and accusing Iran of "deliberately and irrationally" using missiles and drones to attack civilian airports.

Earlier, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Kuwait International Airport and other civilian facilities were attacked by Iranian ballistic missiles and drones, resulting in 1 death and multiple injuries. Kuwait temporarily closed its airspace and suspended air traffic, but the airport has now resumed operations.

Following the incident, Kuwait summoned the Iranian Chargé d'Affaires, announced a reduction in the staff of the Iranian Embassy in Kuwait, and designated two Iranian diplomats as "persona non grata," demanding their departure within 24 hours. The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Al-Badawi, also issued a statement condemning Iran's attacks on Bahraini and Kuwaiti civilian facilities, describing them as a "dangerous and unprecedented escalation."
