Spain's Preventive Blocking of Access to Polymarket and Kalshi

BlockBeats News, May 26th, the Spanish Ministry of Consumer Affairs has initiated disciplinary proceedings against the prediction market platforms Polymarket and Kalshi, and has requested Internet service providers to block user access to these platforms.

According to a notification published in the official Spanish government bulletin, these companies have offered products related to uncertain future events without obtaining the required licenses under Spanish law. Local media reports indicate that the regulatory authorities believe their business activities may be in violation of Spanish regulations.

The Spanish government has stated that during the processing of the case, preventive blocking measures will remain in effect, and the entire process is expected to take three to four months. The regulatory documents also note that since the regulatory authorities were unable to contact these companies through known overseas addresses, they ultimately chose to issue official announcements directly and implement blocking measures.
