According to Dongcha Beating monitoring, Tianyi Zhang, Head of xAI Search and Factual Aftertraining Team, announced his resignation from X today. Over the past year, he has led the real-time search and Agent feature development for Grok. His primary task was to ensure that Grok could accurately retrieve information in the face of X platform's massive and real-time fragmented data without being misled by rumors, thus avoiding "hallucinations." This is also the underlying technological pillar of his favorite "Grok Real-time Mode."
Tianyi Zhang's departure is just the latest example of a recent large-scale talent exodus at xAI. According to Fast Company, approximately 80 employees have left the lab in the past year. More notably, the entire startup team has now been cleared out, and apart from Musk, all the original co-founders of the company (including Jimmy Ba, Tony Wu, among others) have resigned. Additionally, several newly appointed executives, including the CFO and Head of Infrastructure, have also departed recently.
Prior to this, Musk responded that this was a structural reorganization for "speed of execution," likening it to the "demolish and rebuild" phase of early Tesla.
