According to Dynabeat Analytics, Elon Musk today made a post on the X platform, once again bringing up his commitment to open-source recommendation algorithms. He stated that in order to convince the public that the platform is not secretly manipulating content, "everything that affects what people see must be open-sourced."
However, the community notes mercilessly exposed the current state of execution of this commitment: While X had promised to update the open-source "X algorithm" every four weeks, there has been no further action since its initial release. To make matters worse, the notes referenced a Hacker News discussion pointing out that the released open-source repository is missing crucial files, rendering it impossible for external parties to run this code themselves.
