Successful Prediction: IDF Crosses Litani River Market Probability Rises to 99%

According to PolyBeats monitoring, on the prediction market Polymarket, one previously mentioned new account predicted that "the Israeli army will cross the Litani River by July." Currently, the probability of this market being "Yes" has risen to over 99%.

Israeli media outlet Times of Israel, citing IDF sources, reported that the IDF had completed a week-long raid north of the Litani River in Lebanon to destroy Hezbollah positions. i24 News also reported that the IDF crossed the Litani River during the operation, reaching deep into southern Lebanon, with some fighting occurring on the north bank of the Litani River.

The Litani River has long been considered the southern security boundary in the Israel-Lebanon conflict. After the 2006 Lebanon War, UN Security Council Resolution 1701 mandated that no armed forces other than the Lebanese Armed Forces and UNIFIL be present between the Blue Line and the Litani River. Therefore, whether Hezbollah has withdrawn north of the Litani River has been a core issue in ceasefire and security agreements.

The IDF crossing the Litani River signifies an expansion of operations from the border security zone into the traditional buffer zone to the north. For Israel, this is a demonstration of its ability to strike deep Hezbollah positions, while for the Lebanese government and mediators, it indicates a further escalation of pressure on the ceasefire framework and southern Lebanese sovereignty.
