Iranian Official Denies Major Oil Spill Near Hark Island

BlockBeats News, May 9th. The Chairman of the Energy Commission of the Iranian Parliament stated on May 9th local time that production is continuing in multiple oil fields across Iran. He mentioned that the actions against Iranian oil tankers are "completely illegal," but the pressure on Iran's oil exports has not had a significant impact. He also stated that no official reports have been received regarding any oil leaks in the waters near Khark Island.

Earlier, some media reports cited satellite images suggesting a large-scale crude oil spill near Khark Island, a crucial Iranian oil export hub. The pollution was reported to cover tens of square kilometers of sea area, raising concerns in the market about Middle East energy supply and maritime security.

In the past 24 hours, President Trump has threatened that if the current situation "does not make progress," the U.S. may resume the "Freedom Plan," which he described as an "upgraded version." He also mentioned that he expects to receive a formal response from Iran on the U.S. agreement proposal. However, upon returning to the White House, President Trump did not respond to whether they had received a reply from Iran.
