According to Dongcha Beating monitoring, Perplexity has launched a new Mac client and has fully opened up the "Personal Computer" feature to all Mac users. The Perplexity Computer, launched in February this year, could only perform tasks in a cloud-isolated sandbox. The major change in the advanced "Personal Computer" version is the transfer of the Agent's stronghold to the user's physical computer, allowing it to run continuously locally.
The new version has broken through the physical barrier between mobile and desktop. Users can now directly issue commands remotely from an iPhone, mobilizing local files and native applications in Mac to complete tasks across platforms. In terms of web automation, paired with Perplexity's own Comet browser, the Agent can directly operate web tools without API interfaces (direct connectors). The official recommendation is for users to set up a dedicated Mac mini as a 24/7 online exclusive Agent server. The old Mac client, used only for search and Q&A, will be completely discontinued in the coming weeks.
