The US Military Intercepts Iranian-flagged Oil Tanker in the Persian Gulf, Alleging Violation of US Sanctions

BlockBeats News, May 7th, the US Central Command issued a statement, indicating that the US military fired on the Iranian-affiliated oil tanker "Hasna" in the Gulf of Oman at 9 a.m. Eastern Time on May 6th (9 p.m. Beijing Time), damaging its rudder and preventing it from heading to an Iranian port.

The US military stated that the vessel violated US sanctions and, after multiple warnings went unheeded, was engaged by a 20mm cannon from an F/A-18 fighter jet. The US Central Command stated that the US blockade of ships attempting to enter or exit Iranian ports remains in full effect. The US military continues to take action in a cautious and professional manner to ensure compliance with the blockade. (BlockBeats)
