According to Dynamic Beating monitoring, OpenAI's Head of Sales, James Dyett, has announced his resignation to join the venture capital firm Thrive Capital as an "Operator in Residence." This comes as the latest in a series of recent executive departures from OpenAI, following exits from the product, marketing, and research departments.
Dyett, who joined during the 2023 ChatGPT heyday, has led both enterprise sales and API sales at OpenAI. In a post on the X platform, he explained that his departure stems from a "stronger desire for early-stage company building" and his belief that OpenAI's current business position is robust. At his new role at Thrive, he will provide experiential support to founders of startups.
Thrive Capital has been a longtime supporter of OpenAI, with its founder, Joshua Kushner, sharing a close personal relationship with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.
