WSJ: Trump Skeptical of Iran's Proposal, But Doesn't Reject Outright

BlockBeats News, April 28th, according to The Wall Street Journal, U.S. officials said that U.S. President Trump and his national security team are skeptical of Iran's latest agreement proposal. According to the proposal, Iran would ensure the Strait of Hormuz remains open and would pause discussions regarding its nuclear program.

Trump discussed this proposal with aides on Monday morning local time. Officials said that while Trump did not outright reject it, he expressed concerns about whether Iran would act in good faith and be willing to meet his key demands.

Trump's key demands are: for Iran to halt its nuclear enrichment activities and to commit to never developing nuclear weapons. These officials stated that the U.S. will continue negotiations with Iran, and the White House may respond and offer a counterproposal in the coming days.
