BlockBeats News, April 23rd – Last week, the initial jobless claims in the United States saw a slight increase, but the current level of applications still aligns with a low layoff environment. According to data released by the U.S. Department of Labor on Thursday, the initial jobless claims for the week ending April 18th increased by 6,000 to 214,000, with the market median forecast at 210,000. This period aligns with the reference week used for the government's April employment report. Continued jobless claims rose to 1.82 million.
The initial claims remain near their lowest level since last year, consistent with recent data indicating a stabilization in the labor market. According to a late-March survey, about half of U.S. employees are worried about job loss, but the unemployment claims data have not yet reflected a significant increase in layoffs. (FXStreet)
