According to Dongcha Beating monitoring, Google has announced that Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers will automatically receive a higher usage quota in Google AI Studio starting from April 20, and will be able to invoke the Nano Banana Pro image model and Gemini Pro language model.
AI Studio is Google's Gemini testbed for developers, which is free but has limited quotas. In the past, if users wanted to exceed the free quota, the only way was to enable a Gemini API key with request-based billing, requiring separate billing and budget setup. This change directly integrates consumer-level subscriptions into developer tools. Users who have subscribed to AI Pro ($19.99/month) or Ultra ($249.99/month) no longer need to create a separate API key to run more prompts and generate more images in AI Studio.
Google positions this option as a transitional solution between the free quota and API billing, suitable for developers who want to experiment with vibe coding or create prototypes; for actual production deployment, the official recommendation is still to switch to API mode, with direct migration available within AI Studio.
