HKUST Associate Vice-President Xu Jialong Confirms Attendance at "Web 4.0+AI" Hong Kong Theme Event

BlockBeats News, April 19th, the Associate Vice President of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Brian Hui, confirmed his attendance at the offline event "Decoding Web 4.0: When AI Agent Takes Over On-Chain Governance" co-hosted by Rhythm BlockBeats, Insight Beating, and Zhihu. The event will take place in Hong Kong on April 21, 2026, at 13:30.


Brian Hui currently serves as the Associate Vice President of HKUST (Academic Development). He previously served as the Acting Dean of the Business School and the Alice Li Memorial Professor in Business. He is a Professor of Information Systems, Business Statistics, and Operations Management. Having pursued his education from bachelor's to doctoral level at HKUST, Brian has been deeply involved in academia for over twenty years, receiving the Business School's "Franklin Excellence in Teaching Award" multiple times.


His research focuses on FinTech, cybersecurity and privacy, and Web3/digital economy, with related works published in top international journals such as "Management Science" and "MIS Quarterly." Additionally, he has been a consultant for the Hong Kong SAR Government, the World Intellectual Property Organization, and has served as the core academic leader for the HKUST EMBA program, bringing rich experience in integrating cutting-edge technology with business practices.


As AI Agents evolve from "tools" to "on-chain actors," autonomous decision-making, automatic transaction execution, and asset management are becoming a reality. This event will bring together developers, investors, and community builders to discuss the opportunities and boundaries of the "Agent Economy."
