Aave Guardian: The rsETH Hack Was Not Due to an Aave Protocol Vulnerability, Only Involving the Asset Itself

BlockBeats News, April 19th, after receiving an alert about a potential vulnerability in rsETH, the Aave Guardian has proactively frozen the rsETH and wrsETH markets in all deployments. All Aave pools remain secure and operational. This incident is specific to the rsETH asset itself and is not stemming from a vulnerability in the Aave protocol. The root cause is currently being investigated by KelpDAO, LayerZero, and other teams, with Aave in close collaboration.

Aave V3: The Guardian has frozen the rsETH and wrsETH markets in all deployments. This freeze will prevent new deposits and new borrowing activities using rsETH as collateral, while existing positions remain unaffected.

Aave V4: The Protocol Safety Committee has implemented equivalent protective measures in Aave V4, disabling new supply and borrowing actions related to rsETH. The relevant configuration updates have been executed through the Aave Core Hub and the Kelp E Spoke.
