Iranian Official Says Ships Paying Hormuz Strait Transit Dues Will Be Given Priority

BlockBeats News, April 19th, a senior Iranian official told CNN on Saturday that Iran will give priority to vessels paying the transit fee for the Hormuz Strait. The official stated: "Considering the limited number of vessels allowed to pass, Iran has decided to prioritize those that can more quickly comply with the new regulations for the Hormuz Strait and pay the security service fee."

According to the official, the passage of vessels that do not pay the fee will be "delayed." On Saturday, Iran re-imposed restrictions on vessels passing through the Hormuz Strait, citing the United States' "repeated betrayal" in the ceasefire between the two sides. The senior official described this prioritization measure as part of Iran's efforts to manage maritime traffic "under the new order governing the strait."
