OpenAI's Core Leadership Team Members Depart on the Same Day: Head of Sora and Former CPO Exit, Scientific Research Division Split

According to Dynamics Beating monitoring, two core members of OpenAI, Bill Peebles and Kevin Weil, announced their resignations on April 18. Bill Peebles, a key person in the video generation model Sora, witnessed the entire process of Sora from a two-person team to the release of Sora 2. Kevin Weil, former Chief Product Officer (CPO) of OpenAI, joined the research team last October and established the OpenAI for Science department.

Along with Kevin Weil's departure, the internal scientific research department at OpenAI (OpenAI for Science) will also be disbanded and its responsibilities will be distributed to other research teams. In his resignation letter, Kevin Weil stated that accelerating scientific progress would be one of the most positive outcomes in the journey towards AGI.
