Perplexity is ramping up its Personal Computer efforts, turning even local Macs into AI agents

According to BotSeer Intelligence monitoring, Perplexity has started mass delivering Personal Computers to Max subscribers and waitlist. The company stated that this feature is integrated with the Perplexity Mac App, allowing secure orchestration of local files, native applications, and browsers. Perplexity previously revealed on its official website that the Personal Computer runs on a dedicated Mac mini that can be online 24/7, sensitive operations require user authorization, and it retains a complete audit log and kill switch.

Perplexity's goal is not to sell just another desktop assistant, but to advance the narrative of "AI is the computer" to local devices, transitioning from helping users look up information and tweak tools to directly and continually executing tasks for users. It is truly targeting the top layer of orchestration costs that high-frequency knowledge workers find most annoying, transforming the computer from an instruction executor to a target executor.
