Midjourney V8.1 Released: Rediscover the Iconic Art Style, Native 2K Rendering Speed Tripled, Cost Reduced by Two Thirds

According to Perceive Beating monitoring, the AI image generation tool Midjourney has released V8.1, with the official claim of restoring Midjourney's iconic visual style. It now also natively supports 2K HD rendering, with a 3x speed increase compared to V8, and a cost reduction to one-third of V8. The 1K Standard mode of V8.1 achieves speeds that even surpass V7's Draft mode under full quality output.

During the Alpha testing phase, V8 faced user dissatisfaction due to a significant departure in art style from Midjourney's previously established identity. The release announcement of V8.1 prioritizes the "return of iconic aesthetics," directly addressing this controversy. In addition to art style corrections, V8.1 has reinstated the image prompts feature paused during V8 Alpha, launched a new version of "Describe" (upload image to generate prompts in reverse), and updated the moodboard and style reference (sref) systems.

Midjourney, founded by David Holz in 2021, has not accepted any external venture capital to date and operates entirely on self-raised funds.
