Trump Says Iran War `Closer To Ending,' Oil Prices Drop 4%

BlockBeats News, April 15th, Trump said the Iran conflict is "coming to an end," according to Bitget data, WTI crude oil plummeted 4% in Wednesday's Asian session. He also stated that a new round of negotiations between the US and Iran may resume "within the next two days" in Pakistan.

According to Xinhua News Agency, US President Trump said in an interview with American media on the 14th that the Iran conflict is "coming to an end." Trump was interviewed by a Fox News Channel reporter that day. When asked why "you keep saying the war is over," Trump replied, "I think (the Iran conflict) is coming to an end. Yes, I mean, I think it's very close to the end." This statement caused a stir in early trading on Wednesday, leading to a 4% intraday plunge in WTI crude oil.

According to Fox News, in the latest interview, Trump, when discussing the future development of the US-Iran situation, said, "We'll see what happens next. I think Iran is very willing to reach an agreement at the moment." According to the New York Post, Trump said negotiations could "resume in the next two days" in Pakistan. This would build on the foundation of last Saturday's lengthy but inconclusive talks held in Islamabad.

Trump did not specify who would represent the US in the possible second round of negotiations but confirmed that he would not attend. According to sources familiar with the matter who spoke to CNN, if a new round of face-to-face talks can be arranged before the ceasefire agreement expires next week, US Vice President Pence is expected to lead the potential second round of US-Iran talks. Pence stated that he would continue to work towards what he called the "big deal" Trump hopes to reach with Iran.
