The US Department of Justice Initiates OneCoin Victim Compensation Process, with Over $40 Million in Funds Available

BlockBeats News, April 14th, the U.S. Department of Justice announced that it has initiated a compensation process for victims of the OneCoin cryptocurrency fraud case, with over $40 million in seized assets available for reimbursement.

The program is aimed at investors who purchased OneCoin between 2014 and 2019 and suffered a net loss. The U.S. prosecutors stated that this step is taken to return some of the illegally obtained proceeds to the victims. OneCoin, initiated by Ruja Ignatova and Karl Greenwood, involved a fraud of over $4 billion. Ignatova has been missing since 2017, and Greenwood was sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2023.
