US Media Report: US Wavers on Lebanon Issue

BlockBeats News, April 10th, according to CBS reports, U.S. officials revealed that representatives from Lebanon and Israel will hold diplomatic talks at the U.S. State Department next week to formulate a ceasefire agreement. Sources familiar with the matter and Lebanese officials said that the meeting aims to discuss how to engage in direct negotiation matters.

Currently, Lebanon has become one of the most challenging issues in the preliminary diplomatic activities between the United States and Iran. Several diplomatic sources also disclosed that Trump had been informed earlier that the ceasefire agreement would apply to the Middle East, including Lebanon. Mediators also believe that the ceasefire agreement does indeed cover Lebanon. Meanwhile, on the day of the ceasefire, a White House official stated that Israel had also agreed to the terms of the agreement facilitated by Pakistan.

However, after a phone call between Netanyahu and Trump, the U.S. position shifted. Two sources familiar with the matter said that the U.S. position change, along with the chaotic situation of the Iranian regime, has made this diplomatic affair extremely complex. U.S. Vice President Pence told reporters on Wednesday that there were "reasonable misunderstandings" about the terms of the ceasefire agreement, but he attributed this to Iran.
