BlockBeats News, April 4th, Washington D.C. Chief U.S. District Judge James Boasberg on Friday local time rejected the Department of Justice's request to reconsider the ruling in the Powell criminal case that had previously blocked a subpoena in the criminal investigation involving Powell.
In his ruling on March 13th, Boasberg pointed out that the subpoena issued to the Federal Reserve Board in January of last year was issued for an improper purpose, aiming to pressure Powell to agree to Trump's demands for rapid rate cuts or resignation. The subpoena to Powell was issued by Washington D.C.'s Chief Federal Prosecutor Jeanine Pirro (a staunch supporter of Trump), who has pledged to continue the investigation and stated that her office is prepared to appeal to the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia.
According to sources, senior officials at the Department of Justice support this appeal decision. This appeal could delay the confirmation of Kevin Wash's nomination as Fed Chairman. U.S. Senator Tom Tillis, a Republican member of the Senate Banking Committee, has criticized the investigation into Powell and vowed to continue to block Wash's nomination during the appeal process.
