Trump's Newly Appointed Acting Attorney General Previously Held BTC, ETH, SOL, and Other Cryptocurrencies

BlockBeats News, April 3rd, after firing Attorney General Pam Bondi, Trump appointed former personal lawyer and Deputy Attorney General Todd Branch as Acting Attorney General. Todd Branch previously disbanded the Department of Justice's National Cryptocurrency Enforcement Team (NCET) during his tenure as Deputy Attorney General and signed a memorandum instructing prosecutors not to pursue regulatory violations in the cryptocurrency industry. This memorandum was referenced by the Southern District of New York prosecutor's office in the case of Tornado Cash developer Roman Storm, ultimately leading to the dismissal of one charge.

Notably, Branch still held cryptocurrency assets worth between approximately $159,000 and $485,000, including BTC, ETH, SOL, ADA, etc., when signing the cryptocurrency enforcement memorandum, raising concerns about violating ethical rules and his previous commitment to divest assets before handling cryptocurrency-related matters. The latest U.S. government ethics disclosure filed by Branch indicates that he has transferred the relevant cryptocurrency assets to his children and grandchildren.
