The UAE is seeking to forcibly open the Strait of Hormuz and is willing to engage in combat

BlockBeats News, April 1st. According to The Wall Street Journal, Arab officials stated that the UAE is preparing to assist the United States and its allies in forcefully opening the Strait of Hormuz after being attacked by Iran. This action would make the UAE the first Gulf country to directly participate in the conflict.

Officials said the UAE is currently lobbying the UN Security Council to pass a resolution authorizing such military action. A UAE official revealed that their diplomats have urged the United States, along with military powers in Europe and Asia, to form an alliance to forcibly open the strait. The official added that the Iranian regime sees itself as fighting for survival and is willing to bury the global economy by blocking the strait. The official also stated that the UAE is actively assessing the military roles it can undertake to secure the strait, including assisting in mine clearance and providing other support services.

In addition, some Arab officials mentioned that this Gulf country has also proposed that the United States should occupy relevant islands in this strategic waterway, including Abu Musa Island, which has been controlled by Iran for half a century but is claimed by the UAE to be sovereign territory.
