BlockBeats News, March 30th - Aladdin Borujerdi, a member of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, stated on March 30th local time that due to the current international security situation and external threats, Iran is seriously considering withdrawing from the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons and is planning to implement a stricter access and fee system for ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
Borujerdi also stated that Iran currently has full control over the strategic waterway of the Strait of Hormuz. He revealed that Iran plans to establish a new strait management system, similar to Turkey's management of the Bosporus and Egypt's management of the Suez Canal, requiring vessels passing through the strait to obtain Iranian permission and pay the corresponding transit and service fees.
