BlockBeats News, March 27th, according to Reuters, the Iran-related hacker group Handala claimed to have breached the personal email account of FBI Director Kash Patel and released photos and his alleged resume online. Samples disclosed by Reuters show emails from 2010 to 2019, mixing personal and work-related correspondence. A U.S. Justice Department official confirmed the leak, but details remain scarce. The FBI and the hackers have yet to provide further comments.
It is worth noting that this is not the first time Iran-affiliated hackers have targeted U.S. government officials. On June 30, 2025, an Iran-related hacker group (codenamed "Robert") contacted the media via online chat, threatening to disclose more emails stolen from the Trump team. The hackers claimed to have about 100GB of emails involving White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, Trump's lawyer Lindsey Halligan, advisor Roger Stone, Stormy Daniels, and others' accounts and stated they were organizing the sale of these emails, hoping Reuters would "broadcast this matter." The White House and FBI responded to this, with FBI Director Kash Patel issuing a statement emphasizing that any national security breach would be thoroughly investigated and severely punished by the law. This incident was referred to as a "deliberate smear campaign" by the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA).
