BlockBeats News, March 27th, according to Forbes report, Ripple and Stellar co-founder Jed McCaleb will allocate $1 billion from his roughly $3.9 billion cryptocurrency wealth to develop an AGI system based on human brain principles through his non-profit organization Astera Institute. Additionally, he has pledged an additional $600 million towards the field of neuroscience.
The Astera Institute, located in Emeryville, is currently planning to record neural activity patterns when mice perform tasks through a brain-machine interface, and then translate the research results into a new AI architecture. The subjects of the experiments will eventually expand to monkeys and humans. McCaleb believes that the current mainstream Transformer architecture lacks key elements such as planning, decision-making, and motivation, and new directions need to be explored. AI based on human brain principles is more likely to be understood and controlled by humans.
