According to 1M AI News monitoring, Google has introduced a "Switching Tool" for Gemini, allowing both free and paid users to import memories, preferences, and full conversation records from other AI chat apps into Gemini. The tool is now rolling out to consumer accounts.
This tool includes two main features:
1. Memory Import: Users can obtain a preset passphrase from the Gemini settings page, paste it into their current AI app, which will then generate a summary covering user preferences, relationships, and personal background. The user can then paste this summary back into Gemini to complete the import.
2. Conversation Record Import: Users can upload a ZIP file containing chat records exported from another AI service provider, search for historical conversations in Gemini, and continue previous discussions.
Google has also renamed Gemini's "Past Chats" feature to "Memory." Enterprise accounts and users under 18 are not supported for now, and users in the European Economic Area, UK, and Switzerland do not have access yet. Earlier this month, Anthropic introduced a similar memory import feature for Claude.
