Japan, as the largest foreign holder, purchased U.S. Treasury bonds worth $39.8 billion, bringing the total purchase to $1.2 trillion, the highest level since July 2022.
The UK is the world's second-largest holder of U.S. debt, with holdings increasing by $29.3 billion to reach $895.3 billion, setting the third-highest level in history.
China is the world's third-largest holder of U.S. debt, with holdings increasing by $10.9 billion to reach $694.4 billion, the highest level since September last year.
Meanwhile, EU countries collectively increased their holdings by $8 billion, reaching $2.1 trillion.
