BlockBeats News, March 25, according to Bloomberg, Halter, a startup based in New Zealand that develops AI-powered smart cow collars, announced that it has completed a $220 million Series E funding round, valuing the company at $2 billion. The round was led by Founders Fund, with participation from Blackbird Ventures, DCVC, BOND Capital, Bessemer Venture Partners, NewView Capital, Ubiquity Ventures, Promus Ventures, and Icehouse Ventures, to expand its technology to more ranchers globally.
Halter's technology aims to create a "virtual fence" for herds and allows farmers to monitor livestock's location and health metrics in real time through a mobile app. The solar-powered smart collar connects to the farmer's phone, enabling them to remotely manage the ranch — for example, ranchers can drive or guide the herd using vibrations and sounds emitted by the collar.
