According to 1M AI News monitoring, at the Mobvoi Developer Conference held in Nanjing on March 22, Alibaba Cloud's CTO and Mobvoi community founder Zhou Jingren made a public appearance, confirming that Alibaba will continue to open source the Qwen and Wan series of models. This comes after concerns about Alibaba's open source strategy were raised when key members, including Qwen's technical lead Lin Junyang, left the company. This is the first time senior Alibaba executives have made a clear statement in a public setting.
At the conference, a roadmap of open source models was presented, listing dozens of models in three main categories: large language models, multimodal models, and vertical domain models. These include the Qwen language model series, Qwen3-VL/Omni/ASR/TTS multimodal models, Wan2.2 video generation models, and Qwen3-Coder code models, with the note "All models in the series are open source, covering all sizes and modalities" and "More models will be open sourced soon".
Up to now, the Qwen series has open sourced over 400 official models, developers have created over 34,000 derivative models based on Qwen, with a total of 1.2 billion downloads. The Mobvoi community has reached 25 million users and hosts 170,000 open source models.
