Iranian Foreign Ministry Explains Hormuz Strait Transit Principle

BlockBeats News, March 23rd, Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on the 22nd, stating that the Strait of Hormuz is not closed. Vessels can still navigate in the waterway as long as necessary measures due to the war situation are followed. At the same time, the statement outlined Iran's principle position on the navigation and safety of the Strait of Hormuz.

The statement said that vessels belonging to the United States, Israel, and other aggressor countries do not meet normal and non-hostile passage conditions. Iran will handle them in accordance with the law. Non-hostile vessels belonging to other countries or related to them, as long as they do not participate in or cooperate with aggression against Iran, and comply with the safety regulations and measures announced by Iran, can safely pass through the Strait of Hormuz after coordinating with Iran's competent authority.

The statement emphasized that to fully restore the sustainable security and stability of the Strait of Hormuz, military aggression and threats against Iran must stop, actions by the United States and Israel that undermine Iran's stability must cease, and Iran's legitimate interests must be fully respected.
