BlockBeats News, March 22: According to Bloomberg, the sexual abuse lawsuit filed by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman's sister has been dismissed. Federal Judge Zachary Bluestone of Missouri ruled on Friday that the lawsuit was time-barred due to the allegations being too old to meet the statute of limitations, hence deemed "untimely." However, the judge stated that Ann Altman could amend and refile the complaint.
Her lawyer, Ryan Mahoney, stated: "The court's ruling only concerns procedural issues and does not affect the substance of the allegations." He added that the court has allowed the parties to file a revised complaint, which the team will complete promptly, continuing with the planned discovery process. Sam Altman's legal representatives declined to comment on the matter.
In January 2025, Ann Altman alleged that during their upbringing in Missouri in the late 1990s to early 2000s, Sam Altman subjected her to abuse and misconduct. She claimed the behavior began when she was 3 years old and persisted until she was still a minor. In response, Sam Altman, representing himself, his mother, and brother at the time, issued a statement denying the allegations as "entirely false."
In March 2025, while denying the allegations, Sam Altman filed a defamation lawsuit against his sister, alleging that her "false statements" had damaged his reputation and caused emotional distress. His lawyer also stated that her lawsuit was brought "to pressure him into providing unwarranted financial support." In this ruling, the judge also allowed Sam Altman to proceed with his defamation lawsuit.
