BlockBeats News, March 20th. According to ZDNet Korea, the National Tax Service of South Korea (NTS) plans to select a private virtual asset custody service provider as soon as the first half of this year to manage its seized virtual assets. This is a follow-up measure in response to last month's virtual asset theft incident. On February 26th, the Tax Office accidentally leaked the mnemonic phrase while releasing the results of on-site inspections of delinquent taxpayers, resulting in the theft of the seized virtual assets twice.
When selecting a service provider, the Tax Office will focus on security requirements, company size, and whether they are insured according to the Virtual Asset User Protection Act. Currently, this work is being led by the "Virtual Asset Management System Heightening Task Force (TF)" established on March 11th. In addition, the Tax Office also plans to negotiate with the Ministry of Public Administration and Security to establish a dedicated "Digital Asset Planning Division" to integrate the entire process of managing virtual assets from seizure and custody to sale.
