Visa Introduces AI-Powered Payment Tool: Complete Transactions with a Command Line

BlockBeats News, March 19th, Visa's Crypto Labs released a command-line tool (CLI) that allows AI agents to initiate automated payments directly in the terminal, enabling "hands-free" programmatic transactions.

This tool supports providing payment capabilities for robots, scripts, and other automated processes without managing API keys. It can be used directly to purchase cloud resources, call API services, and facilitate machine-to-machine payments. The product is currently in the testing phase and requires applying for its use through a GitHub account.

Visa stated that as AI transitions from "answering questions" to "performing tasks," including automated purchasing of computing power, service invocation, and micropayments, payment infrastructure needs to be upgraded to support "command-line commerce."

In addition, Visa has integrated the Machine Payment Protocol (MPP) and collaborated with industry-driven AI payment standards led by companies such as Coinbase and Cloudflare to accelerate the development of AI-native payment ecosystems.
