US Media: White House Secretly Urged Allies to Support Hormuz Strait Escort Operation

BlockBeats News, March 18th, according to Politico, three European officials revealed that the White House is urging allies to help ensure the safe passage of the Strait of Hormuz and has privately assured them that Trump is open to issuing a high-level statement while also working to stabilize the financial markets.

These officials said that the Trump administration is asking European and Asian allies to issue a public commitment statement by the end of this week. They added that the White House is not currently particularly concerned about specific actual contributions. All respondents spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive negotiation details.

This move comes as Trump grows increasingly frustrated with allies who have not joined efforts to ensure the passage of ships through this key waterway. On Tuesday, he posted on the social platform Truth Social, saying, "We don't need anyone's help!"

Even just expressing public support could help soothe increasingly anxious investors and lay the groundwork for the Trump administration to establish a more specific cooperation framework in the future.

According to two other European officials, individuals who have recently communicated with Trump administration officials said that the White House is most concerned about market reactions.
