US National Counterterrorism Center Director Resigns Over Iran War, Says US Dragged Into Conflict by Israel

BlockBeats News, March 17th, Joe Kent, Director of the U.S. National Counterterrorism Center, announced his resignation, becoming the first senior official in the Trump administration to resign over the Iran war.

In a public letter, Kent stated that Iran did not pose an "imminent threat" to the United States and accused Israeli officials and some media of spreading false information to drag the United States into a Middle East war. He argued that the current situation deviated from Trump's "America First" foreign policy.

Kent was a senior advisor to Tulsi Gabbard and has had multiple deployments in the Middle East war zone. In his resignation letter, he expressed opposition to the U.S. being drawn into long-term conflicts similar to the Iraq War and called for a reassessment of the war policy toward Iran.
