Argentina Orders Full Block of Prediction Market Polymarket

BlockBeats News, March 17th, according to CriptoNoticias, on March 16th, 2026, the Buenos Aires Court ordered the full block of the prediction market platform Polymarket, with the National Communications Regulatory Agency ENACOM in charge of enforcement, and requested Google and Apple to remove its app from the local app stores.

The block was issued following a complaint from the Buenos Aires Lotteries and Betting Commission (LOTBA), with authorities determining that Polymarket, under the guise of a prediction market, was effectively operating an unauthorized online gambling business, and the platform did not require identity or age verification, posing a significant risk to users. Argentina has thus become the second country in Latin America, after Colombia, to completely restrict the platform.
