BlockBeats News, March 16th. According to The Information, ByteDance has suspended the global release plan of its latest video generation model Seedance 2.0 after a series of copyright disputes with major Hollywood studios and streaming platforms. Last month, several US studios (including Disney) issued legal threats, ByteDance stated that it would take measures to prevent its AI video generator Seedance 2.0 from being used without authorization to infringe intellectual property.
Disney sent a cease and desist letter to ByteDance last month, accusing it of training and driving the Seedance 2.0 model with Disney characters without permission. Disney stated that ByteDance preloaded Seedance with a pirated copyright character library covering series IPs such as Star Wars and Marvel, disguising these characters as public domain material.
ByteDance originally planned to launch Seedance 2.0 to global users in mid-March, but the plan is currently on hold. ByteDance's legal team is investigating and addressing potential legal issues, while engineers are implementing additional protective measures to prevent the model from generating content that could lead to further intellectual property infringements.
