China Industrial Cybersecurity Development Research Center Issues Risk Advisory for Industrial OpenClaw Application

BlockBeats News, March 12: The China National Industrial Cyber Security Development Center issued a "Risk Warning Notice on the Industrial Sector OpenClaw Application": OpenClaw is currently accelerating its deployment in the industrial sector in research and design, production manufacturing, operation and maintenance management, and other aspects.

However, due to OpenClaw's characteristics such as fuzzy trust boundaries, unified access from multiple channels, flexible invocation of large models, and dual-mode persistent memory, once effective permission control strategies or security audit mechanisms are lacking, it may be maliciously hijacked due to instruction induction, supply chain poisoning, etc., leading to a series of security risks such as loss of control of industrial control systems and leakage of sensitive information. Specifically, risks include industrial host unauthorized access and production loss of control; industrial sensitive information leakage risk; industrial enterprise attack surface expansion and attack effect amplification risk.

Therefore, it is recommended that industrial enterprises refer to relevant requirements such as the "Industrial Control System Network Security Protection Guide" and the "Industrial Internet Security Classification and Grading Management Measures," refer to the "Six Dos and Six Don'ts" suggestions already published on the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's Network Security Threats and Vulnerabilities Information Sharing Platform (NVDB), and strengthen security protection measures when deploying and applying OpenClaw, including strengthening control permission management; enhancing network boundary isolation; and performing vulnerability patching and remediation.
