BlockBeats News, March 10th, according to TechCrunch report, AI networking startup Eridu has completed a $200 million oversubscribed Series A financing round, with lead investors Socratic Partners, renowned VC John Doerr, Matter Venture Partners, Hudson River Trading, Capricorn Investment Group, SBVA, MediaTek, Bosch Ventures, TDK Ventures, Eclipse, and VentureTech Alliance (the investment platform of semiconductor giant TSMC). The company stated that to date, Eridu has raised a total of $230 million.
Eridu co-founder and CEO Drew Perkins has been involved in computer networking technology development and startup building since the early days of the internet. He was involved in the creation of the Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP), a protocol that became a key part of TCP/IP, the core protocol on which the internet operates.
Eridu is developing a switch that integrates more functionality onto a chip. Drew Perkins stated: "This way, a significant amount of energy consumption and cost can be saved, and the network's reliability is also greatly improved, as optical devices are the most unreliable part of the network." He added: "The computing power and memory bandwidth of GPUs increase by about 10 times each year, while data center switches from vendors like Broadcom, Marvell, Cisco still only increase by 2-3 times every 2-3 years."
