Top Investors List! Zcash Core Development Team ZODL Completes Over $25 Million Fundraise

BlockBeats News, March 9th. According to official sources, the Zcash Open Development Lab, founded by former Electric Coin Company CEO Josh Swihart, has completed a financing round of over $25 million. The round was led by Paradigm, a16z crypto, Winklevoss Capital, Coinbase Ventures, Cypherpunk Technologies, Maelstrom, Chapter One, Balaji Srinivasan, David Friedberg, Haseeb Qureshi, James Nicholas, and others.

ECC launched the flagship Zcash wallet Zodl in 2024, setting a new standard for Zcash usability. Earlier this year, the original ECC team, including the wallet product team, joined ZODL to continue building the Zcash primary user interface, aiming to develop Zodl into an open self-custodial privacy financial platform. They seek to expand ecosystem interoperability through collaboration, drive privacy ZEC transactions into the global mainstream.

Zcash protocol development remains core to ZODL's work. Engineers who previously designed, built, and maintained key Zcash systems at ECC have joined ZODL to continue advancing protocol evolution with the same commitment and integrity, ensuring that technical progress supports real-world needs and drives alignment with Zcash's product market.

The core of the Zcash Open Development Lab is to develop an open, self-custodial private financial platform designed to expand ecosystem interoperability through collaboration and bring shielded ZEC transactions to the global mainstream market.
