BlockBeats News, March 8th. According to The Information, the prediction market Kalshi is facing a class-action lawsuit over settlement issues regarding Iran war-related prediction event contracts. The plaintiffs claim that the platform failed to pay out appropriate bonuses to users holding relevant contracts. The dispute reportedly revolves mainly around the "Will Khamenei step down" event contract.
Prior to this, Kalshi CEO Tarek Mansour had openly condemned profiting from individual deaths and stated that the fees related to this event contract market would be refunded. This dispute comes amidst a surge in geopolitical prediction market trading volume, with the market attracting a large number of users at one point. It has also sparked ethical and regulatory debates on whether trading on war or individual death-related events should be allowed.
