The UK Plans to Postpone Key Decision on AI Copyright Regulations

BlockBeats News, March 7th, according to the Financial Times, due to strong opposition from the creative industry, UK government ministers will delay a controversial modification to copyright rules that would have made it easier for AI companies to access and use media content.

A person familiar with the UK government's response to the two-month consultation said, "The copyright issue will be shelved once again." The consultation was aimed at soliciting views on how to regulate AI companies' access to copyright-protected material, with the government's formal response expected to be published in the next two weeks.

Two sources revealed that the public's feedback on the consultation did not support any of the government's proposed schemes for AI to use copyright-protected material. Ministers have therefore decided to reconsider the proposals, gather more evidence, and engage in a longer consultation on multiple options.
