Musk Says Tesla Will Be First to Achieve General Artificial Intelligence in Humanoid Robot Form

According to 1M AI News, Musk posted on X stating that Tesla will become one of the companies achieving Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), and "may be the first to do so in a humanoid/physical manifestation." The term "physical manifestation" refers to an idea Musk put forward in a podcast interview in January this year, referring to controlling matter in the physical world through humanoid robots, as opposed to purely digital AI.

He had previously predicted at the January Davos Forum that AGI would arrive by the end of 2026, but he had also made a similar prediction in 2024, stating that AGI would be achieved by 2025. Tesla has currently deployed over a thousand humanoid robots named Optimus in its factories for handling parts, and xAI stated in January this year that they will develop AI for Optimus.
