BlockBeats News, March 4th, SB Seker, Head of Binance Asia Pacific, stated in an interview with Nikkei Asia in Tokyo that Binance plans to add 5 new regulatory licenses in Asia this year, bringing the total number of its globally licensed jurisdictions to over 20. Currently, Binance holds regulatory authorizations in Australia, India, Indonesia, Japan, New Zealand, and Thailand in the Asia Pacific region. With the completion of the acquisition of the South Korean local exchange Gopax, South Korea will soon be added to its licensed list. Seker did not specifically disclose the target markets for the new licenses, only stating that some markets are "approaching the final stage."
Seker joined Binance last year, having previously worked at the Singapore-based trading platform Crypto.com Group and held senior legal positions at Ant Group and the Rothschild Group. He also served at the Monetary Authority of Singapore (Singapore's central bank and financial regulatory authority).
