BlockBeats News, February 16th, OKX has obtained a Payment Institution (PI) license in Malta, in compliance with the upcoming EU regulatory requirements taking effect in March. This license allows OKX to continue providing stablecoin-related payment services within the EU, fully aligning with the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation and the Second Payment Services Directive (PSD2).
OKX Europe CEO Erald Ghoos stated: "We recently launched actual payment products including OKX Pay and OKX Card to bring stablecoins into everyday life. Obtaining the Payment Institution license ensures that these products operate in full compliance."
At the end of last month, OKX partnered with Mastercard to launch a cryptocurrency payment card in Europe, and its venture capital arm, OKX Ventures, also recently invested in the stablecoin issuance platform STBL.
