Trump Tariffs Expected to Imposé $1,300 Invisible Tax Hike on U.S. Households by 2026

2026-02-12 15:55

BlockBeats News, February 12th. According to Fortune, Trump's proposed tax cuts have been promoted as a key measure to address the affordability crisis and are expected to lead to the largest tax refund season in history. However, an analysis by the non-partisan think tank Tax Foundation indicates that the burden of tariffs effectively offsets the benefits of tax cuts, amounting to an invisible tax increase on American households. By 2025, the average burden per household is projected to be $1,000, increasing to $1,300 in 2026. Even accounting for tax refunds, the average loss per American is still around $300. In the long run, tariffs are expected to generate a net $1.9 trillion in fiscal revenue from 2025 to 2034, but tax cuts will reduce fiscal revenue by $4.1 trillion, resulting in an overall negative impact.
